What is Byron Baes if not a weird, semi-uncomfortable dream, the kind you have when you’re sweating beneath a slightly too warm doona, your brain taking you not so much to the depths of your unconsciousness where truth lies, but more the awkward edges of your mind, where you keep memories like “that time you inexplicably lost your shoes at school”. Not a bad memory exactly, but not worth spending too long dwelling upon. And like all dreams, it’s time to wake up, pack up our belongings and retreat to the harsh light of reality (the gold coast).
