Hello to all of my angels, and hello also to you my devils! If you are neither angel nor devil, that’s okay - there’s a hello for you also! Everyone is included here at Patrick and Bec’s Angel and Devil Recap Emporium.

Firstly, I must apologise for missing my last recap like some sort of crumbling delicious nude-Twirl:

I wasn’t flaking or twirling, I have simple been swamped with various deadlines and agonies. Now I have returned! I am ready for battle, and to face my biggest fears once more, such as spiders, and yuck men getting undeserved romantic attention from women who are better than them in every way. Besides that part of Fboy Island, which is actually also part of every tv show, and every situation I’ve ever seen in real life - I’m enjoying watching! This seems like a low bar for tv shows that I am consuming every episode of, but often when I am recapping a show I am also not enjoying the show itself that much! This time I am, even though there are LOTS of annoying parts to write about. Patrick talked about some of these things last recap, but I’m going to say them again, backwards and in heels.

The show is going for a difficult tone, and a lot of the reason it’s working is because of how natural and great Abbie is. Hosting is such an unusually hard job, and she’s nailing it. It’s also DEEPLY important and satisfying to have her there to be a proxy for the audience (me). She pulls faces at the men being cringe, and mocks them, and calls them out, all the things the three contestants aren’t going to do - and things hosts don’t usually do. It’s funny!

The show itself is sharply written, has good jokes, great editing, and leans into being dumb as hell. Unfortunately the downfall for me is that it has the premise involves me having to watch a group of men be gross.

Let’s get into who annoyed or not annoyed me this ep! Wheeeeeeeee!!!

LEAST ANNOYING

Snooping Section

When it came time to play a game, Abbie announced that the boys probably thought they were safe from social media stalking because the girls aren’t allowed to have phones, but:

I get them a laptop. I think she actually said she gave them a laptop, but either way you get the gist. I believe this was truly a surprise because all of the men not only groaned and gasped but contorted their faces to represent an emotion they had never felt before.

Some of the boys had been smart/disgusting enough to wipe all their social media before coming, but some got found out for things such as:

Corey - discovered he is an actor

Sean - discovered he had been on another reality show

Justin - discovered disgusting post where he tries to be sexy and it has made me celibate

and finally Clay, who posted three weeks ago with a woman on holiday in Bali, and the conversation about that went great.

Beautiful. I loved this entire thing. I love snooping and gossip and scrabbling about and men being embarrassed. Very funny, not annoying!

Benny

I know I know I am as shocked as you are. Yes this is still me, don’t worry. Nobody has killed me in order to impersonate me and get my glamorous life of recapping FBoy Island. I never saw this coming, but I have to live my truth. Benny is English and awful, but in this episode we only saw him twice. Once, during the social media game when they found a post where he’d accidentally called a kangaroo a koala.

And once when a secret was revealed, and his shocked reaction was I would say about 1.5 seconds behind everyone else, and his British thumb head leaned forward and gasped and it was endearing!!

Also he was an integral part of the bit of the show where all the lads were out in the yard playing in a pool slide thing which very much gave that I Think You Should Leave sketch where the guy is only on The Bachelorette in order to use the zipline.

Sorry!!! This almost definitely won’t happen again!
