All the heterosexual nonsense we were forced to endure over MAY
i need to talk to you about Hacks season 3 immediately
We have had a LOT of new people join The Nonsense Family (makes us sound either like a cult or one of those family bands from the 60s), and it’s a delight to have you all on board. And I gotta say, April was a particularly good month for us - I got a bit confused and published way more articles than I needed, AND they were all fantastic. So… you’re welcome.
It was also a month absolutely overwhelmed by fucked attacks against the LGBTQIA+ community around the world. On a practical level, I need everyone to calm down, because I physically cannot cover this much news. Please. Just stop being bigots so I can spend my time writing about a sinister bird I saw once.
And now it’s PRIDE MONTH overseas, and I’m just really tired tbh. Luckily, we have a lot to be proud about, so let’s get into it.
Letter from the editor - The Good Part
There’s a scene in the third season of the award-winning comedy, Hacks, where Ava tells an aspiring comedy writer that “It doesn’t get better; it just gets harder“. By season three, Ava is doing well - in what could be simplified as a generational divide comedy, she’s our 20-something youth figure, whose career success and stability is new enough to remain incredibly welcome.
“But the scratch in the very beginning is the fun part. It’s the good part. … Try to enjoy where you’re at right now because you’ll miss it, and you can never go back,” she adds.
There is so much that could be written about this new season of Hacks - it’s an absolute triumph, as strong, if not stronger than the first season. There’s a very simple reason for this, despite the tradition of show’s getting worse the longer they drag on. Namely - this season of Hacks is so good because everything has been about getting to this moment. We’re not talking about just the show itself - we’re talking about the internal narrative too. Art imitates art I guess.
