It's getting so bad that my friend, a trans woman living in Florida, has even considered seeking asylum here... I'm not sure whether she will actually go down that path, but yeah. It's bad.
My friends there aren't considering it - yet - but I've told them all that if they need to get out fast I'll find a way to get them to Australia and they can live with me while we determine the next move, and that offer applies to any of their friends and family too.
The fact that there could be a need for a new Railroad is terrifying.
What a horrifying and depressing time we are living in. How can such hard fought for freedoms to allow everyone to live as they want be taken away so easily?
It's terrifying and I fear Pride in DC will be under scrutiny. I read the link about ease of travel for Australians & it actually doesnt commence until mid year 2025, and may be rolled back. The greater question is should be pressing our govt to allow trans & nom binary Americans currently on visas in Australia to apply for asylum? Given our refugee record it sms that will be difficult but given our current election - it may be time to press independent candidates on this issue. Thanks for the article.
I'm headed to the US for a wedding next week. Feeling quite anxious, and will be travelling in stealth as much as I can. Good luck to all my fellow Queer travellers right now xx

If nothing else, it will be a great way for the administration to put together a list of queer people and their allies. And right on their doorstep!
